Connect Hardware
Requires NextMAG hardwareNextMAG stations report in through a field gateway over WiFi. There is nothing to pair from this device — readings arrive in the same workspaces you can explore right now.
Live from a nearby station
No stationNo NextMAG is answering on this network. A station serves its readings over its own WiFi, so this device has to be joined to it.
- Open Settings → Wi-Fi on this device.
- Join the network your station broadcasts — it is named for the unit, like nextmag14.
- Come back here. Readings appear on their own.
While joined to a station you will not have internet on this device — that is normal, and the station is not connected to one.
How a NextMAG station connects
- 1. The station measures. Sensors on the unit sample the magnetic field continuously, on its own hardware.
- 2. The station reports in. A gateway agent on the unit pushes readings to the NextMAG platform over WiFi. It spools to disk when the network drops, so nothing is lost.
- 3. This app reads the platform. Readings appear wherever you are — no pairing, no proximity, and no dependence on this device being nearby.
Every demonstration in the app runs right now on built-in data, with no station required.
Readings reach this app from NextMAG stations reporting in over WiFi. Nothing about you or your phone is collected or transmitted.
