Privacy Policy
This policy covers the NextMAG Intelligence Platform iOS app and the showcase web experience it presents. It is written to be read, not skimmed past. The short version: the app as distributed on the App Store collects no personal data.
What the app is
The app presents the public showcase surface of the NextMAG platform: six interactive demonstrations (live synthetic magnetometer spectrum, mesh source locator, 2-D magnetic camera, moving-source tracker, predictive maintenance, and live NOAA space weather). Five of the six demos run entirely on your device using synthetic (computer-generated) data; the space weather demo displays live public NOAA data (see below). Nothing you do in the demos is uploaded anywhere.
What we collect in the showcase app
Nothing. Specifically, the showcase app has:
- No accounts and no login. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No analytics or trackers. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind.
- No ads.
- No access to your device sensors, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or location. The "magnetic camera" and other demos are simulations; they do not use your device's camera or magnetometer.
- No data uploads. The demos generate and process their data locally in the app.
The one network connection: NOAA space weather
The space weather demo displays live, public data from the U.S. NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (planetary K-index, solar wind, and X-ray flux). This is a read-only download — no data about you is sent with it beyond what any internet request inherently includes (your IP address, seen by the responding server).
The data is normally fetched through our own server-side relay. If the relay is
unavailable, the app fetches the same public feeds directly from
services.swpc.noaa.gov, a U.S. government service subject to its own
policies. Our hosting infrastructure may keep standard, short-lived technical request
logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and reliability, as virtually
all web hosting does. We do not use these logs to identify or profile you.
On-device storage
The app caches its interface and the most recent space weather data on your device so it can open and work offline. Small local preferences (such as acknowledging an in-app notice) are stored on your device only. None of this leaves your device, and deleting the app removes it.
Deployed sensor stations (not part of this app)
The full NextMAG platform, which is separate from this showcase app, receives readings from deployed NextMAG magnetometer stations. Those stations report over WiFi through a field gateway to a platform backend. This app never connects to sensor hardware directly — it contains no Bluetooth, accessory-pairing, or device-discovery capability of any kind, and requests no such permission. Where an organization does run a platform backend that receives station data:
- What is transmitted: magnetometer sensor readings — magnetic field components, timestamps, sensor temperatures, accelerometer and gyroscope values, and the sensor's GPS fix (latitude, longitude, altitude). This is geophysical measurement data about the sensor's environment and position; it is not tied to a personal account, because there are none.
- Where it goes: a platform backend database (Supabase-based) configured by you or your organization. The platform supports self-hosting, so all sensor data can stay on infrastructure you control.
- Why: monitoring, analysis, anomaly detection, and comparison — the core function of the product.
- Retention: sensor readings are retained for operational use (historical analysis and trend comparison) for as long as the backend operator keeps them. On a self-hosted backend, retention and deletion are entirely under your control. The app displays a plain-language notice of this data handling before use.
Note that a sensor's GPS fix reveals the location of the sensor installation. If you deploy sensors at sensitive sites, self-hosting keeps that data within your own systems.
What we never do
- We do not sell data — yours or anyone's.
- We do not share data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
- We do not use third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
- We do not build profiles of app users.
Children
The app is intended for industrial, defense, and utility evaluators. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect any data from children — or, in the showcase app, from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change (for example, when the hardware-connected BLE mode ships), we will update this policy and its effective date before the change takes effect.
